Rental Equipment
Each Kayakomat station is stocked with high quality kayaks and stand-up paddleboards from Point 65 Sweden. The kayaks are roomy, comfy, and stable, so even if you’re new to kayaking, you can feel confident on the water. For the best experience, go out early in the morning when the water is calm.
A paddle, spray skirt, PFD (lifejacket), rope and loops are included with each kayak rental, so you don’t need to bring anything except water, snacks, and sunscreen. Choose from solo or tandem (double) kayaks with spray skirts; or sit-on-top kayaks with a small waterproof hatch.
SUP rentals include paddle, paddle leash, and life jacket.
Note: If anyone in your group is under 35 kg or more than 100 kg, they will need to bring their own life jacket.

How Kayakomat Works: Book Online, Unlock, and Paddle!
Renting a kayak through Kayakomat is a straightforward process. Users simply need to book, unlock, and paddle:
- Book: Locate the nearest rental station through the Kayakomat mobile application or website. The application provides real-time information on kayak availability, pricing, and station locations. Pay online through the app to hold your booking.
- Unlock: Before your rental period begins, “you will receive a text message with a slot number and a code. One text message per rented product. The slot number shows in which slot of the KAYAKOMAT your kayak/sup is located. Enter the code in the box on the lock, end with π.”
- Paddle: While rentals are available 24/7, Kayakomat recommends that you DO NOT paddle after dark. See their Safety Tips for more info. Typically, the water is calmest first thing in the morning & the fishing and wildlife viewing are best then too!
Renting kayaks and SUPs with Kayakomat is easy and affordable!
Kayak rentals are for a minimum of 2 hours; SUP rentals are for 1 hour or more. Multi-day rentals are also available!
Meet the Owner/Operator
Peyton Wierenga opened the Aspen Beach Provincial Park, Cow Lake, and Crimson Lake Kayakomat stations on May 17, 2023 after seeing an ad for a kayak/SUP business opportunity. She loves “the convenience of renting with Kayakomat. Having two young boys, it can already be a lot to pack up the vehicle and head out for the day. With Kayakomat, we donβt have to worry about hauling our own kayak or paddleboards along with life jackets and paddles.”
24/7 access is also a huge plus. “I love that you can rent 24/7! I enjoy heading out early in the morning when the water is glass,” Prins says. “Before I opened the kiosks, I did a lot of research of other kayak and SUP rentals in the area and from my findings, I found most only offer very limited rental times/days and some places you still have to transport your own kayak or SUP.”
When you rent from Kayakomat at Aspen Beach Provincial Park, Cow Lake, and Crimson Lake, you support a family-run Alberta business and get convenience and good prices. It’s a win-win!
Environmental Considerations
Kayakomat emphasizes sustainable practices by using eco-friendly materials for their kayaks and ensuring proper waste management at each rental station.
