As Chief Family Adventure Planner, it’s always a treat when my husband and kids take the lead to plan a trip. There’s the element of surprise, and all that time freed up to do other things (like research our next road trip). Fortunately for hubby and the girls, my dream Mother’s Day is simple: brunch at home, a mountain hike and picnic, and no cooking or cleaning. While I usually end up helping cook at some point, mostly having a day off is pretty sweet. High quality active wear or outdoor gear for my favorite activities is always appreciated too!
Here are some fun things to do on Mother’s Day as well as some great gift ideas for active moms from Sport Chek.

The lightweight UnderArmour Women’s Fly By Av run hat keeps sun off and lets heat and moisture out. Stretchy, unstructured material and an adjustable hook and loop closure allow for the perfect fit – even with a ponytail!
Oakley sunglasses have been a fav of mine for years for their amazing optics and robust frames. When my mother in law ran over my husband’s Oakleys, they sustained a few scratches but were otherwise fine. Good thing the lenses are replaceable! I have the Oakley Half Jacket sunglasses and my husband has the Oakley Radar Ev Path sunglasses (among others). I recommend polarized lenses for less glare and better depth perception (especially on water or snow) and vented lenses for high output activities (to prevent fogging up).
Petite women will benefit most from the shorter length and narrower frame of a women’s backpack. The Gregory Women’s Amber packpack is a high quality technical daypack with features you usually see in larger packs such as load-bearing suspension and an adjustable, ventilated back panel.

Gifts for Moms who love yoga (or being cute and comfy)
Active wear is perfect for the gym, yoga studio, or relaxing. For a fun, spring look, pair the Lorna Jane Radiant Active Tank with the Lorna Jane Flourish Core 7/8 tights. If you’re short like me, the 7/8 will be full length tights (no hemming required!). Complete the outfit with the quick drying, light support Under Armour Armour Shape Low Yoga Bra.

B Yoga is a Canadian company that makes 100% rubber eco-friendly, super grippy (even when you’re sweaty) yoga mats. Get the B Yoga B Mat Every Day 4 mm yoga mat for extra comfort when you’re doing that down dog position. The B Yoga B Block made of cork will help you hold a position when you can’t quite reach.
Keep your cool with a Hydro Flask 24 oz standard mouth water bottle. The double wall vaccuum insulated bottle keeps drinks icy cold for up to 24 hours! I like that it resists condensation buildup too. Get the sport top for convenient sipping throughout class/workouts.
